Olivia Allen
Chapter President
President Olivia is a third year student at Northeastern pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with minors in Social Entrepreneurship and Business Administration. Her involvement with the Social Enterprise Institute, as well as her interest in microfinance stems from the Institute’s Field Study Program in 2011 to the Dominican Republic. She is currently serving as the president of Northeastern’s Net Impact chapter. Olivia completed her first co-op at City Year in Boston as the Alumni Engagement Coordinator where she learned important lessons in urban education and non-profit management. Most recently, she participated in the summer 2012 Dialogue Field Study Program in Capetown, South Africa.
Rachel Shaheen
Vice President
Rachel is a fourth year Political Science student pursuing minors in International Affairs, Business Administration, and Social Entrepreneurship. She currently works as a Research Associate at the Social Enterprise Institute and as a member of the Net Impact e-board at Northeastern University. In 2011, she completed her first co-op at Root Cause, a research and consulting firm for non-profits focused on social impact and cross-sectoral collaboration. At Root Cause, Rachel gained a greater appreciation for the social issues prevalent in the United States, including homelessness, school readiness, and youth violence. This past summer she participated in the SEI Field Study Program in Cape Town, South Africa.
Rachel Grich
Vice President of Marketing and Communications
Rachel is currently a middler with a dual major in Business Administration (Finance) and Political Science. She originally became interested in Net Impact and Social Entrepreneurship after taking a Social Entrepreneurship class last spring and traveling to South Africa for the 2011 Field Study Program. Rachel is very interested in microfinance, education development, and politics in Sub-Saharan Africa. She most recently completed a rewarding co-op at Big Sister Association of Greater Boston.
Sarah Mele
VP of Career Development and Events
Sarah is a third year Honors student pursuing a major in Environmental Studies with a minor in Global Social Entrepreneurship. She has worked with the Social Enterprise Institute since January 2011 and participated in the Institute’s Field Study Program to Capetown, South Africa Summer 2011. She most recently travelled throughout Western Europe for 6 weeks, and is excited to pursue an International Co-op this January (details TBD!).
Melissa Goldberg
VP of Community Outreach and Marketing
Melissa is a third year student majoring in Social Entrepreneurship and Marketing pursuing a minor in Urban Studies. She has worked at the Social Enterprise Institute since her freshmen year, working as the Urban Engagement Coordinator helping to organize the Citizen Schools Program. She also participated in the 2011 South Africa Field Study Program in Cape Town. Melissa completed her first co-op at Oxfam America from January to June 2012, working in the Community Engagement department. She has been on the Net Impact E-Board since Fall 2011 serving as the Community Outreach Coordinator tasked with organizing monthly service learning opportunities. She is excited to also take on the role of Marketing Coordinator this semester.
