Parents and family members are invited (and encouraged) to participate in the concurrent Parent/Family Orientation program. The Parent and Family Orientation is designed to introduce you to the broad academic and social aspects of the university community. You will have the opportunity to meet representatives from the academic colleges, participate in campus services presentations, and to see firsthand many of the wonderful university resources available to new students. Parents and family members will also interact and network with each other throughout the program.

The Undergraduate Student Fee supports New Student Orientation costs, including the opportunity to have two complimentary guests participate in the Parent and Family Program, Welcome Week Activities, and Parent Association membership. Students will automatically be billed this fee upon enrollment; more information may be found on the Student Financial Services website, under the Student Accounts tab. There are additional costs for additional guests (above the two complimentary). Added costs must be paid by credit card at the time of registration by credit card.

What to Bring

We encourage you and your family members to pack lightly. Remember that there will be a lot of walking around campus, so comfortable shoes and clothing are necessities. New England weather can be unpredictable; it’s always a good idea to bring a light jacket or sweater for evening activities.

Please note: For a checklist of what items students should bring, please see our essentials page.
